Daughters of the King

The order of the Daughters of the King in the Diocese of East Tennessee is a lay order for women in the Episcopal Church, of churches in communion with it, and in churches who believe in and support the historic episcopate.

A Daughter pledges oneself to a lifelong program of prayer, service, and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's kingdom and to the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish or mission church.

All Daughters accept a simple rule of life - that of daily prayer and continuous efforts to serve. A daughter vows to participate regularly in the worship, study, and work of the church; to assist the priest(s) in any way possible; and to bring others to the knowledge and love of our Lord. One also pledges to pray daily for the extension of Christ's kingdom, for spiritual growth of the church, our diocese, and individual parishes, for all who need emotional, spiritual, and physical healing, and for the work of our order.

Each chapter is autonomous, making the self-determination on how it can best serve its parish within the diocese. For chapter formation, contact the diocesan president through the diocesan office.

Respectfully submitted by Lucy Frye, President
